Azzah Arikat, MD

Dr. Azzah Arikat obtained her Bachelor of Science in General Biology at University of California, San Diego in 2005. While applying to medical school, she worked in research laboratories, volunteered at multiple hospitals and participated in various community organizations including the International Rescue Committee, San Diego.

She obtained her medical degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine in 2012. During her schooling, she participated in multiple health outreach events at her local community including blood pressure screenings, health education and the student-run free clinic. She then went on to pursue her post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which is the second largest Los Angeles County hospital, primarily serving the underserved.

Following completion of her post-graduate training in 2015, she moved back to San Diego County to pursue primary care. She joined Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in August 2015 after completing her board certification, and is an outpatient Internal Medicine physician at present. Her passion in medicine is primary care and preventive medicine.

Growing up in Amman, Jordan during her formative years, Dr. Arikat has always been interested in organizations that not only promote health and community outreach but also celebrate her culture and heritage. She was a student member in the national NAAMA during her medical school years and is very enthusiastic to be an active member of the NAAMA-San Diego Chapter.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Arikat enjoys spending time with her family and taking in the beautiful San Diego scenery. She loves museums and the performing arts.
